The CONNIE Awards

Nicknamed the CONNIEs for "CONcrete CONstruction", the Awards for Excellence in Concrete Construction are the industry's highest recognition of works that exemplify vision and innovation in the use of concrete in a variety of applications throughout British Columbia.  These awards showcase the high calibre of expertise and hard work associated with the sophisticated construction market in BC.

Projects must be located within the province of BC and must have been completed before December 31 of the previous year.  Any member of the project design or construction team may submit the entry form.  Entries must highlight the innovative use of concrete as a principal construction element, and can be entered in one of the following categories:

1.  Architectural Concrete                            
2.  Cast-In-Place Structures
3.  Concrete Paving
4.  Public Works
5.  Residential
     a)  Single-Family
     b)  Multi-Family
6.  Special Applications:
     a)  Technical Merit
     b)  Artistic Merit
7.  Tilt-Up Structures

Each entry will be judged on its own merit by a panel of highly qualified, impartial judges, who are selected for their expertise in their field.  Judging will be based on architectural merit, creativity, quality of engineering design, innovative construction techniques or solutions, complexity, sustainable elements, functionality and end use suitability.  Finalists and a category winner will be selected from each category.   The winning projects from each category will then compete against each other for the Grand Award, awarded to the category winner that best employs the unique advantages of ready-mixed concrete.
