Thank you to everyone who attended and sponsored the 2009 BCRMCA AGM & Convention at the Fairmont Waterfront in Vancouver! We could not make this event happen without your support.
There was a good turnout for the Friday morning Round Table Provincial Update & Members' Meeting featuring BCRMCA Committee Reports, an information session regarding the BC Assessment Authority, and an update for the members on BCRMCA's grassroots initiative to the provincial government's "Wood First Policy".
A small group ventured out on Friday for a fun-filled afternoon of indoor go-kart racing; thank you to Phil Janzen for getting everyone there and back safely.

After being entertained by Vancouver Island's own Todd Butler with musical parody, whimsical wit, and outrageous political satire, the evening concluded with the return of John MacDonald in the driver's seat for the Live Auction. Thank you to all who donated and purchased the auction items; $14,020 was raised for the BCRMCA Promotion Fund!
Saturday morning's AGM was highlighted with the ever-popular Dave Czechowski, Portland Cement Association's Sr. Economist for Canada, reporting on the "thumping" the BC economy has undergone, but indicating "subtle yet fragile indications that the province may have found its recessionary trough and moderate improvement may indeed be on the horizon". Click here to view Dave's presentation. The 2009-2010 Board of Directors was determined by a ballot vote.
Saturday evening's cocktail reception and dinner set the stage for more awards. Doug Blender was honoured for his leadership and support of the industry as BCRMCA President from 2007-2008. The Association had the opportunity to celebrate and thank West K Concrete Ltd. and Coquitlam Concrete (1993) Ltd., who have been loyal BCRMCA members for 25 years. We also presented the Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Industry to Tom Gibson, who recently retired after many years working in the industry. Tom was recognized for his technical and advocacy work on the Environment Committee. The weekend concluded with the President's Ball, with dancing to rhythm & blues band, Doctor D. and the Soul Demons.
