Energy Efficient Buildings Using Concrete Thermal Mass

WHOSE FAMILIES COME FIRST? The BC concrete industry has had enough of a policy and a law saying our hard-working families and the communities we live in don’t count as much as other families and their communities. Wood-First is destroying the building marketplace in B.C. communities, and damaging the families that depend on that community marketplace.
The Cement Association of Canada (CAC) recently completed several studies aimed at using the mass of concrete structures in energy efficient design of buildings.
Durability is the ability of concrete to resist weathering action, chemical attack, and abrasion while maintaining its desired engineering properties. Different concretes require different degrees of durability depending on the exposure environment and the properties desired. Concrete durability is one of the most important considerations in the design of new structures and when assessing the condition of existing structures.
