The owners were intent on maximizing the use of decorative concrete, to take advantage of the infinite palette and unlimited design possibilities it offers.
Marrying function with beauty, the floors on all three levels incorporate stamped and coloured concrete flooring. The first two levels also incorporate radiant hot water heat to maximize the home’s energy efficiency, and provide a comfortable, even warmth.
Self consolidating concrete (or SCC) accounted for about one third of the 120 cubic meters poured on this project, for its ease and speed of placement.
The design team added colour, fibres and shrinkage reducing admixture to the SCC mix design for concrete countertops in the kitchen, ensuite, laundry, bar and main floor powder room.
The traditional elegance of this 6,070 square foot home encompasses four fireplaces with concrete hearths and a vertical stamped wall in the wine cellar that completes the old world charm.
